Learning Target 1 (53 minutes)

Students will use the information about Relevency, Appropriateness, Detail, Currency, Authority, and Bias learned from the RADCAB page, to determine if information should or should not be used for their research projects.

RADCAB Definitions

Relevency: Is the information relevant to the question at hand? Am I on the right track?

Appropriateness: Is the information suitable to my age and core values?

Detail: How much information do I need? Is the depth of coverage adequate?

Currency: When was the information published or last updated?

Authority: Who is the author of the information? What are his or her qualifications?

Bias: Why was this information written? Was it written to inform me, persuade me, entertain me, or sell me something?

Students are presenting Prezi's that summarize a children's book.

BRING YOUR HEADPHONES and/or EARBUDS in this class!!!! We will be doing some research and working independently using videos for tutorials and for sources.

  1. Create a File>New>(type in timeline in the search in the middle)
  2. Start creating a timeline of your digital timeline!
  3. Go to this site and watch Getting Started with Prezi, How to create a great Prezi.
  4. Link to our mini lesson activity for Prezi

Now we will get to the real lesson - create a Prezi of your digital life (timeline)

  1. We watched several videos to help you to define what things that you might include.
  2. Now, map out what your footprint is - you may choose to use a timeline to represent it. We will be doing a Prezitm. The mini lesson on Prezi is Tuesday - you will need those earbuds!!

Students will become more aware of how much time they are spending 'Connected.' Then they will discover the impact that digital media plays in their lives. Students open and complete "My Digital Log and Chart" activity Link to the NEW worksheet or open the one you started yesterday. Complete the worksheet and upload it into your Tech Ed Folder.

Students will Bring home the COPPA permission form to let parents know that we are creating online accounts with some educational websites. If you would like a copy of the form there is also one here in English and in Spanish

We will watch the following Video: "You Can't Take It Back." Now in a group with your row, discuss and complete the Handout that goes with this. Be ready to answer the questions out loud.
