Northglenn Knightwear Policy 2014-2015
The Northglenn Middle School Knightwear Policy consists of wearing a long or short sleeve polo-style, collared shirt that is solid white, black, grey or navy blue. The shirt must be tucked in if it falls below the student's wrist. Pants must be khaki, black or navy blue and must have a button and a zipper. Leggings (without a skirt), yoga pants and sweatpants are not permitted. “Denim blue” jeans are not permitted.
The following dress code must be adhered to by all NGMS students:
- Students are to wear one of the approved shirts and only the approved colors (white, black, grey or navy blue). Undershirts and tank tops must be beige, white, black, navy blue or grey, and must be worn under the student’s uniform shirt.
- Pants must be worn on the student's natural waist (no sagging).
- Clothing should be free of holes. If students clothing becomes torn, a reasonable effort should be made to repair holes within a short period of time.
- Students may not alter or tie up their uniform clothes.
- Students will NOT be allowed to wear any clothing (including coats, jackets, or sweaters) to class that are not approved Knightwear. Approved long sleeve items for colder weather include solidnavy blue, black, white or grey sweaters and sweatshirts with no hoods, writing or graphics. School issued Northglenn Middle School hoodies and Knights Court t-shirts and hoodies are approved.
- Shorts and skirts must be an approved length (No higher than 4 inches above the knee). If there is a question, students will be asked to change. No exceptions to this rule, even if the student is wearing leggings.
- Shoes must have a sole with tread. No slippers are permitted.
- Coats may not be worn to class. The only exception is when you are going outside for lunch during cold weather or entering and leaving the building.
- No scarves, neckties or bowties are permitted.
- In addition, students must follow all regulations set forth in the Adams 12 Safe Schools Policy.
- Students who repeatedly violate the dress code policy are subject to disciplinary consequences.
Students who are not dressed in Knightwear will be sent home and may return dressed in the appropriate clothing or parents may bring appropriate clothing for them to change. Students who continually violate the policy will be subject to disciplinary consequences. The decision of the building administration will be final in determining proper dress.
