Third:

Goal: Students use Microsoft Word to demonstrate their ability to effectively use a document processing software and read and follow all instructions, and upload completed work with an appropriate file name to an online learning system.

Audience: New Technology / Design Instructor.

Situation: You must follow all instructions by using clues within the program to complete the file. Please read before asking for help - all of the instructions are contained within the document!

Purpose: You can effectively find solutions to be creative, take ownership, and make technology work FOR you.

Earlier Work:

Students will create a process journal for our keyboarding practice!

    1. Download the journal for Tech 8 from Here
    2. File > Make a Copy!
    3. Rename it: LastFirstReflection+AssessmentTouchTypingGPD
    4. Click on the folder next to the file name in the document to move to a folder
    5. Then you will need to Create a New folder
    6. Name it TechGPD
    7. Then click DONE to Move it to the Folder
    8. In order to share a with tech teacher, please click on SHARE and type in my name: Jan Hulstrom

Typing from the Edge

  1. Please take TWO 3 minute tests for your practice today at the following website:

  3. After each test, please take a screenshot and create a Word document and paste them in!
  4. Save this document to your H drive in a Tech8 folder as:
  5. YourLastNameTypingTestsFromTheEdgeGPD (notice there are no spaces, and capitalization is intentional so that we can read the file name)

  6. Log into Schoology
  7. Upload the page to the assignment titled Typing from the Edge

Begin your internet safety lesson! (remaining time)

  1. Log into Schoology and begin the Quiz on internet safety labeled Mr. Hinshaw's Office Hold Window+left or right arrow to send your screen to 50%
  2. Open the link to the website in another tab Mr. Hinshaw's Office Site
  3. Bring that screen to the other half of your window (drag, or Window+other arrow)
  4. Begin mining the information to complete the internet safety quiz!
  5. Do not submit unless it is complete!

  1. create an AWESOME background
  2. Logo using your initials (or name if it is short)
  3. Save it to your H drive (File>Save to my computer)
  4. Log into Schoology
  5. Click on your name on the upper right
  6. Click over the image and choose your logo, and upload

Review Superintendant Policies Video (10 minutes)

  1. Your screens will be blank
  2. You will ATTENTIVELY watch the video.
  3. There will be a test on schoology for it NEXT week!!!!

Grab your Name Cards and put them up!

  1. If you did not print yet, you will get a chance after our Typing Pretest!
  2. Sign in: x3 (times three) - Yes again!
  3. Follow this link and sign in with Google - then choose YOUR GPD on Typing.com and log in with Google!
  4. Choose the Typing Test and the 3 Minute for 6th and 7th grade, 5 minute for 8th grade!
  5. If you have your Name Card done:
    1. Then: Move on down to step 6
    2. Else: Print your nametags when approved (see earlier work below)
  6. Choose the Games Tab and Play!

Create a Schoology Account

  • Link to Schoology and join your class!!!
  • If you already have an account, sign in and join our class
  • If you DON"T have an account associated with your student email address, create one!
  • Here are your codes - find your class and Sign up as a student
  • These are the directions you need to follow to create a log in for you:

Schoology Access Code: is on your class web page

You will need to

    1. Double click this access code (listed below by your GPD in the grey chart) and press Cntl+C (copy)
    2. Follow this link to Schoology
    3. Select Join
    4. Select Student
    5. Click into the Access Code area
    6. Press Cntl+V (Paste) the the Access Code area (it should be on your computer's clipboard)
    7. Click the Continue button
    8. Type in your First and Last Name (USING A CAPITAL FIRST LETTER IN EACH)
    9. Open another tab and sign into your Gmail
    10. Compose a new email - type your name in the to: and click it so it makes the email addressed to you
    11. Click and highlight your email address following your name (where it appears with an x next to it)
    12. Hold Control key, press the C key (COPY)
    13. Paste that into the email address of the register screen
    14. Type in your network password as your password (and again to confirm it)
    15. Click the Register button.
