New information always is posted on the top of each page - sometimes a day at a time, and sometimes a week! I will leave the older information underneath the newer so that you can always look back and find what we did (especially if you were absent).

New Tynker Code Blocks

1. Introduction (Concepts module)

  • Read the captions on the screen and play the game.

2. Concepts:

Find out more about how to add actors, costumes and code blocks

  • Read the captions on the screen.
  • Click anywhere to move to the next screen.

3. Forest Scene (DIY project)

  • In this module, you will create a simple scene of a knight pacing left and right.
  • This should be review for students who have completed other Tynker courses.

4. Get to the Treasure (DIY project)

  • This DIY project will illustrate how to make the knight stop when it reaches its objective. In this case, the objective is the treasure chest, and the knight is programmed to only walk the distance to the chest instead of walking forever.
  • This module leaves lots of room for improvement-- the footsteps sound does not end once the knight stops walking, for example. Challenge you to solve this problem.

5. Train the Knight (puzzle)

  • In this puzzle we need to build the code to make the knight attack.

6. Treasure Run (puzzle)

  • In this puzzle we need to avoid the ghosts and reach the treasure without running into any trolls.
  • My hint to you is to leave the animation just the way it is, and to pause (wait) before you start running towards the treasure!

7. Monster Mash (DIY project)

  • This module will teach you how to create a customizable dance party using music and animated Actors.
  • Each character should say something. For example, the zombie can say "Brainssss....". What would the Valkyrie and Knight say?
